HISTORY |
In 1942 the Me P1101 was designed and built but never flown before wars end .
The design did form the basis for the later Bell X-5 .
THE KIT |
This consists of the two
tail pieces and a A4 double sided instructions sheet in a small ziplock bag
backed by a solid piece of cardboard . The parts are on easily removed resin
lugs but suffer from a slightly pitted surface which will require sanding. The
trailing edges are commendably thin and the recessed panel lines are a good
depth . Whilst these are not Planet Models quality , 5 minutes work will quickly
bring them up to scratch .
The parts will fit either the Revell / Dragon or Huma kits . The instructions
suggest using the night fighter version from Dragon/Revell and with it's 4 X-4's
serving as the basis of an interceptor version as suggested by the go faster V
tail .Assembly is aided by a template to set the correct angle .
Moonstone Models are a cottage industry firm new to the market . Unusually they
have chosen to use Polyester resin not the normal Polyurethane which is more
harmful .
The instructions are simply words but given the conversions
simplicity no diagrams are needed .
I expect construction to be a 10 minutes work at most. The completed kit is by
the manufacturer Linzi Mumford.
CONCLUSIONS |
This is an ideal beginners resin conversion . In actual fact it would be ideal for resin virgins to use as their first kit. To all but kids under 12 I would recommend this thoroughly.
