Here is the third volume in the saga of JG 27. This time, it covers the Bf-109F years in the desert and includes the time of Han-Joachim Marseilles. As a person who is interested in camouflage, this edition is full of the rather boring RLM 79 over RLM 78 aircraft, most with the usual Mediterranean theater markings of white nose, fuselage band and wing tips. However, that is the way these aircraft were painted and that's that.

Like the others in the series it is a dual Polish/English text. Also like others in the series, it makes for some interesting reading, some of which is directly due to the rather unusual translation that one runs into from time to time. Since they don't have a translator whose prime language is English, some of the syntax is a bit odd, to say the least. A saving grace is that at least this edition is not difficult to read as are a few of the previous Kagero books I've read.

The text is the usual overview of the situation with daily stats and operational stories. Photographs are excellent and well used throughout the book to help tell the story. What makes them particularly useful is that most are new to me, so the author has done a good job in that respect. The usual color profiles and large fold-out in the center of the book are present, with a goodly number of them of various aircraft flown by Marseilles. Kagero always includes some little goodie in their books to add to the value of them to the modeler. In this case, it is a Techmod decal sheet with a selection of markings from the profiles this and volume II.

I'm hooked on the series and find each one to be quite interesting and a fairly good read. This one is no exception.
