Aoshima 1/12 Yamaha Majesty C

The Yamaha Majesty 400 is a Touring Scooter style motorcycle with an MSRP of $5799 and is a Carryover for 2006. Power is provided by a 4-Stroke, 400cc, Liquid cooled, DOHC, Single-Cylinder engine with Electric starter. The engine is paired with a Continuously Variable (CVT) transmission and total fuel capacity is 3.7 gallons. The Majesty 400 rides on Aluminum wheels with a 120/80 R14 front tire and a 150/70 R13 rear tire. The front suspension is a Telescopic Fork while the rear suspension is a Twin Sided Swing Arm. Front Hydraulic Disc brakes and rear Hydraulic Disc brakes provide for the stopping power. The Majesty 400 comes standard with Two-Piece, 2-passenger seating.

The above is from the Yamaha USA web site. This motorcycle is obviously one not exported as, while it looks the same, is powered by a 249 cc engine. It appears that this smaller engine allows a lower operating cost and perhaps falls within a certain tax bracket making it less expensive to license.

Save for a large clear sprue and a smaller one in chrome, the rest of the parts of this kit are molded in black. This is not a highly detailed kit as is obvious from the two-piece engine/transmission assembly that traps the rear tire/wheel. The rear wheel is held in place with a very long screw. Tires are vinyl or rubber and are nicely molded. The major body pieces are also molded in large bits with the biggest ones in two pieces as well which trap the engine and rear wheel assembly.

One then builds up the seat and front fork assembly as well as the front bodywork/windscreen assembly and this is also attached using a long screw. Most of the chrome is for the handlebars and for the exhaust. It is in the latter that the only option I found is available as you can use a standard muffle with heat shield or one that looks more like a competition version that is much longer and looks more tube-like.

Instructions are pretty much all in Japanese, but should provide no issues for most builders. Color information is provided with Gunze paint references. There is no overall painting and decalling diagram as one is expected to paint this black and decal installation is shown throughout the build process. As you can see from the sheet image, this includes the grey seat trim.

If you are fond of two wheel vehicles and are looking for what very much looks to be a pretty quick build, then this is a kit you should seek. It looks to be a very cool looking bike.
