HISTORY

The Lamborghini Veneno is a limited production supercar based on the Lamborghini Aventador and was built to celebrate Lamborghini’s 50th anniversary. The prototype, Car Zero, is finished in grey and includes an Italian flag vinyl on both sides of the car. The engine is a development of the Aventador's 6.5 L V12 and produces 750 PS (552 kW; 740 bhp).

Only three production cars were produced, a green, white, and red one, each representing a colour of the Italian flag. Car Zero, which was the vehicle on display, will be retained by the factory for the museum. The three production cars cost €3.12 million each, and all three were sold.

The vehicle number 0 was unveiled in 2013 Geneva Motor Show, followed by 2013 Quail Motorsports Gathering,  Vallelunga circuit near Rome during the World Finals of Lamborghini Super Trofeo 2013 series.

THE KIT

This new kit by Fujimi is very similar to their earlier supercar products. The kit is a semi-curbside, by which I mean that there is an upper engine piece so that you can see the engine and associated bits through the rear hood's louvers.

Since the real car's suspension is hidden, Fujimi represents that simply by flat pieces that fit on the lower chassis plate, leaving only the suspension A-frames visible. On to this fits the disc brake sections, each with their own axle. There is a tie rod for the front wheels and this is designed to allow the wheels to be turned left or right. Rubber tires and vinyl caps are provided for the wheels so these are a simple push on and can rotate.

On the underside of the chassis are diffuser channels and the central engine exhaust. The interior is a separate tub that includes the front wheel well arches. There are decals for all the instruments. The wheel includes paddle shifters. The body piece includes the engine well into which the engine piece fits. There are masks for the windscreen and two small side windows. The forward body section is separate and it is there that the various clear light lenses are installed. Pay particular attention to this area when building the kit as it appears to be somewhat complex. To this section are attached the fenders and the lower grille and splash panel. Tail lights are clear and will need to be painted prior to installation.

This car is designed similar to current Le Mans prototypes with a rear 'fin' and a wide rear wing. The doors are able to be posed in the open position, which in this case means they swing up. A decision on doing this has to be made during door assembly as it is not hinged.

The instructions provide eleven multi-paneled construction steps. It is pretty much all in Japanese, but not at all that difficult to follow as all the parts are numbered. Painting information is provided using Gunze paints. The car on the box art is obviously car #0 as it is pretty much a silver shade of some sort. The separate painting instructions seem to indicate that it is overall burnt iron with black trim. Obviously, one could also paint it as one of the three production cars, but I'd get a photo to try to match the paint. The decal sheet is quite well done and provides all the various logos, instrument faces, red trim, and the tricolor stripe for the side.
CONCLUSIONS

You cannot get more exclusive than a car of which only four were built. The car looks like it is doing 200mph just sitting there and will be an excellent addition to any collection of exotic production cars.
