C&H 1/48 F-100F conversion
for the Monogram F-100D kit.
$35.00
C&H has offered several resin conversion kits for a number of Monogram kits, this one being for the F-100D.
While the conversion is a bit pricey, it is worth it when you see the amount of resin that you get with this set. I should mention that newer sets come with decals so the price for those is $40.00. This set was decal-free, so I will need to piece something together from the spares and available sheets.
As you can see from the image to the right, you get a full fuselage upper and lower section. They really are beautifully done, though my example has some sort of blob around the wheel well area that will need sanded off and rescribed.
In addition to the fuselage halves, you get a complete interior with seats and extra bits for the back seater including an instrument panel, control stick, combing and the canopy brace. An item that is also included is a new vacuformed canopy. What it doesn't include is a new windscreen, which will look a bit odd with a thick windscreen and a superthin canopy. I don't think that Squadron produces a Hun canopy so you are stuck with what is available. Even closed there will be a visible difference in thickness.
The four page instruction sheet is complete with diagrams showing just what to cut and where. Those parts common to both D and F are used from the Monogram kit and C&H show exactly where to make the needed modifications
Despite those small concerns voiced above, it is a welcome addition and a conversion that I will be doing in the near future. In my opinion, you can never have enough Huns!!
