Most of you have probably never heard of AeroDecal. It is a company that many years ago produced very nice quality decals, mainly of European subjects. You know, the stuff that either Modeldecal (who was strictly 1/72) or Microscale would not do.
Most of the sheets were quite small and only of a few subjects. This sheet is quite typical of what was produced. If you are viewing this page at the recommended 1024 x 768 size, the image of the decal sheet is full size.
The sheet is quite well printed and even after all these years, has not started to yellow. In some cases the markings are separate to prevent problems with registration.
There are four Mirages on this sheet.
One is a standard Mirage IIIE from EC 3. It is in the standard European paint scheme of dark green over very dark grey with silver undersides. The sheet gives FS numbers as a reference.
Next is a couple of Mirage IIIER recon versions from ER 2/33 or 3/33. They are identical except for codes and tail badges. They are painted just like the Mirage IIIE above.
The 'foreigner' in the group is the Mirage III EO from 76 Squadron, RAAF. This bird is in the early RAAF colors of overall bare metal. They were later painted as the French Mirages. The sheet includes the proper handed insignia for an Aussie bird.
There are enough common markings for one plane, though by using kit markings, all four subjects could be done. I would imagine that the ESCI kit was the basis for this sheet, though where one would get the recce nose in 1/48 is beyond me.
