Aeromaster 48-040: Ki-84 Hayate

This particular sheet has markings for five aircraft. For the most part, they are in the dark green uppers with light grey undersurfaces. Since this sheet was produced in 1995, there are quite a few folks who think the underside of these planes may well have been unpainted metal.  so the choice is yours. All have the leading edge ID bands in yellow.

First up is one with a black upper surface. This one was with the 57th Special Attack unit in 1945 and carried bomb racks on the lower wings and had a dark green spinner and prop.

Next, with the 520th Temporary Interception Regiment is this plane with a red spinner and white fuselage and wing home defense bands.

The third plane with the blue swoosh on the fin/fuselage was with the 29th Air Combat Regiment, HQ squadron. It has a blue spinner as well.

Next is one with the 101st Air Combat Regiment based in Okinawa during 1944. Note that it has a slightly different grey demarcation line on the rear fuselage.

Finall, one that is not shown is with the 13th Air Combat Regiment in Thailand during 1945.

Decals are nicely printed and the recommended kit is the Tamiya Ki-84. Now that kit is 1/50 scale so smaller than the much better Hasegawa kit so be advised that the markings may be too small for the Hasegawa or even the Otaki kit.
