The Hawker Hunter has been arguably called one of the finest looking aircraft to ever fly. While there are a number of Americans who might argue that point, it is up there in the top ten.
Since it is such a desired aircraft, it is odd that there have been few kits of it until the Academy release of a few years ago. As always in modeling, it is either feast or famine and Revell added to the feast in 1998 with a superb 1/32 Hunter FGA.9/F.58.
Aeromaster was amongst the companies to release a decal sheet or two or three for this aircraft and one of them is sheet 32-003. If the subjects look familiar, they should as they were also covered on an earlier 1/48 sheet.
Basically one gets two full schemes and two for aircraft with minimal markings.
The full schemes are for an FGA.9 for 58 Sq RAF in 1975. This one has the bulk of the sheet and includes precut underwing serials.
Another full scheme is for the very nice Abu Dhabi Hunter FGA.76 in a desert scheme from 1969. Both these schemes have full roundels.
Next is a Zimbabwe FGA.9 from their bush war of the 1970's and 1980's though this is in the 70's scheme of standard RAF colors that was later changed to two browns. It has only tail markings.
Likewise the Omani AF FGA.9 from 1994 is in two greys in a wrap pattern with low-viz markings on the tail and rear fuselage only. Seems like a bit of a waste of a sheet to do these last two, though I'm sure there are Hunter fans out there that would use them.
Like most Aeromaster sheets, the registration is spot on. One also gets the thin blue outline of the 58 Sq badge as separate pieces. Now the biggest problem is building the Hunter and deciding on which version to do!
