Though not exactly a super favorite of mine, the Mosquito has a rather large following amongst modelers in Europe more than the US. It is one of the more kitted aircraft with a multiple of variants and sub-types offered in all scales. For 1/48, I'd have to say that Tamiya holds the edge on this aircraft as they do at least four different boxings and sub-variants. Also in 1/48 is the more elderly, but still good Airfix kit of the FB.VI and from Monogram and even older kit that builds four different versions from the same kit.

This sheet is for the FB.VI version as it seems to have been the most widely produced variant.

First aircraft, in medium sea grey with dark green upper surface camo, is from 305 Squadron. It is very much a standard aircraft with D-day stripes uner the lower fuselage.

Next is an Aussie Mk VI from 86 wing of the RAAF. This overall aluminum lacquer plane was used in the last year of the war doing mopping up operations. Don't paint this as bare metal as the Mossie was made of wood!

From 418 Sq, RCAF is this next plane. It is painted exactly like the first one but without the D-day stripes. It also carries a small nose art 'Hairless Joe' and a nice row of kill markings.

Finally, a plane used by BOAC to fly diplomats and other high priority cargo to Sweden. These flight took place at night to minimize the possibility of detection when flying over enemy-occupied territory. Colors are dark green and Ocean Grey over silver.
