With the release back in 1999 of the Hasegawa Sea Hurricane kit, time was ripe for a sheet (or two) on the subject. This particular one covers several different variants and unles noted, all are painted in the standard camo of the day of Extra Dark Sea Grey/Slate Grey over Sky.
First is a Sea Hurricane Ib from 880 Squadron in June 1942 from the Indian Ocean cruise of the HMS Indominable. Note the white band and code letters.
From 801 sq comes this Ib variant. It has the fin in yellow.
This Mk IIc is from 824 sq and unlike most of these planes has the name "Sheila" painted on the side
Here is a nice, all white MkIIc from 835 Sq during convoy duties aboard an escort carrier. This plane is credited with shooting down a Ju-290 in mid 1944. The bands on the back are in Extra Dark Sea Grey.
Finally, a CAM Hurricane Ia from 9 Group, RAF. These served aboard specially modified ships to serve as convoy protection. These were one-shot aircraft. Once launched, the aircraft had to make a water landing near another ship so the pilot could be rescued.
