Here is a nice sheet for two aircraft from the USS Abraham Lincoln in December of 2002. For me, this is the first time I've seen an F-18E on a decal sheet. The suggested kit is, of course, the Italeri version, which is the only one currently (Aug 2003) available. I've heard that Monogram is doing one, which is good s the Italeri kit is more of a prototype/preproduction plane. No recommended kit is given for either, though F-14 fans have the Revell and the Hasegawa kits to choose from. Both planes are in the Tactical Paint Scheme.
The F-18E is from VFA-115, and since it is the CAG bird, it has the usual black tail with colorful squadron markings on it. The fins will have to be painted black but that shouldn't be much of a challenge for most modelers.
The F-14D is from VF-31, and while not a CAG bird, is the Squadron CO's plane so gets the color on the fin and the ventral stabilizers. The black radome is a bit of a standard feature for VF-31 Tomcats. That and the area around the cockpit will have to be painted by the modeler.
There are enough common markings and stencils to do both planes from the sheet.
