Not too many 1/48 F4U-4 Corsair sheets out there, so it is nice to see a new one. The Hasegawa or Minicraft F4U-4 is the recommended kit. There is a resin conversion out there that allows you to use the newer Hasegawa F4U-5, though the name of the maker escapes me at the moment. Still the Hasegawa/Mania kit is pretty good, even if it is raised panel line technology.
All these planes are overall sea blue.
First is a VMF-323 aircraft from the Korean War era. Probably one of the more colorful Corsairs of the period.
Next is a VF-193 F4U-4 from the USS Princeton, also from the Korean war about 1951. Light blue trim on various parts of the airframe add some color.
Finally, a WWII -4 of Ken Walsh, who operated this plane over Okinawa in 1945. It is a pretty boring scheme other than his kill markings.
The instructions note that the upper surface weathered rather quickly so it would not be uncommon to have these planes a matte on the upper surface changing to gloss on the undersides where sun fade would not be so much of a problem. Enough insignia for all three of these subjects.
