Coming in second in the 'favorite Luftwaffe fighter' category is the Fw-190. When going to contests, it is rather obvious that the 190 is well liked. Contrary to earlier feelings I had about the plane, I am starting to warm up to it. I had thought that 190s were basically boring planes. All painted the same colors and with little in the way of differences in camouflage. Over the last few years, I have found that it isn't necessarily the case. Especially in the last year of the war.

Aeromaster provided several 190 sheets in 1/72 for those who like the Butcher Bird. This particular sheet has five nice schemes on it. There are enough data markings and tail swastikas to do three of the aircraft, though there are national insignia for all five.

First is a 190A-5 from the Russian front in 1943. JG 51 had some of the more interesting camo schemes on their planes as they were allowed to experiment. This one is a nice medley of greens.

Next is a black and white striped nose A-7 from JG-1. The A-7 was built in rather small numbers of less than 200 planes so is relatively rare when it comes the 190.

Black 10 is an easy scheme as the upper surfaces are overall RLM 82. This A-8 was found in Denmark at the end of the war.

Another A-8 is Yellow 5 from 3./JG 5 in France during the summer of 44. As with the previous A-8, this one has the blown hood.

Finally a rather drab A-8 with the earlier canopy from  JG 26. The only real color is the green spinner.

Building a 1/72 Fw-190 and don't want to use kit decals? Any of these are a good choice.
