A popular model in 1/72 is the Ju-88. Fortunately, we have been well supplied with variants to build from most of the major manufacturers. What really seems to catch modelers fancies are the night fighter versions. This particular sheet provides several eye-catching schemes for those planes and one for a recce bird.
First is a Ju-88G-6b from I.NJG 101 in late 1944. It is equipped with the upper fuselage Schrage Musik installation and has a replacement rudder. Overall RLM 76 with RLM 74/75 scribble.
Next is a Ju-88C-4 ofr 1./NJG 2 in late 1941. Before airborne radar was installed, these Ju-88s relied on ground radar to tell them of the nearness of enemy aircraft. Interestingly, it seems that more night kills were done without radar than with! This overall black Junkers operated in the Mediterranean theater.
A reconnaissance Ju-188D is next in normal bomber colors of RLM 70/71/65. Earlier codes have been overpainted in grey.
Finally, a Ju-88C-6 from 8./NJG 2 in 1943. This one is overall RLM 76 with RLM 75 mottle. It is equipped with both AI radar and Schrage Musik.
For those seeking kits to match with these schemes, the Ju-188 can be found in Matchbox or Italeri boxes. The Ju-88C from Italeri and it was done by AMT as well. The G model was only issued by AMT, but shouldn't be that tough to find.
Please note that the sheet may look a bit short as I'll often crop off common markings to save on server space.
