Notes: | Luftwaffe Special #1 |
It seems that one can never have enough Luftwaffe sheets and Cutting Edge offers us yet another one. This one combines three unrelated subjects on the same sheet. Because the markings are not very intensive or complicated, there are complete common markings for all three subjects.
First is a Fw-190A-5 from 2./JG 11of ace Erich Hondt. Unlike previous sheets with his markings, this one has red stripes vice yellow. Probably the most difficult part of this scheme is finding a kit in 1/48. Only Dragon makes a ready to go A-5 variant that is often difficult to locate.
Next is a Bf-109K-4 from 9./JG 53 in the typical mélange of late war colors. Hasegawa's 109K kit is probably your best choice.
Finally, a Bf-109G-6 of 208 kill ace Heinrich Ehler, who rammed a B-17 and died in the encounter just a month before the end of the war. His JG 5 109 is in the standard RLM 74/75/76 scheme. There are 109G-6s in 1/48 from Fujimi, Hobbycraft, Hasegawa, and even Otaki/Arii that could be used.
Please note that the sheet may look a bit short as I'll often crop off common markings to save on server space.
