For their second set of markings for the new Eduard 1/32 Bf-109E kit, Eagle Cals goes a bit later in the war. Like the first set, there are full data markings for one plane and it seems enough insignia for a second. Of course, you can get the other data markings from the kit decals if you so wish.

The set includes a variety of paint schemes for this earliest of 109s. As many of you know, the E-1 had a full machine gun armament while the E-3 had cannons in the wings. These two subtypes were built side by side at a ratio of 3 E-3 variants for each 2 E-1 versions so it was not uncommon to find both within the same unit.

All of these selections are in the RLM 71/02/65 camouflage scheme.

First up is White 13 of Helmut Henz of 4./JG 77 in April 1941. In addition to a lot of mottling on the fuselage sides in the upper surface colors, it has the yellow Balkans campaign markings on the rudder, wing tips and cowling.

Next is the rather clean Red 1 of Gert Framm from the spring of 1940. His 2./JG 77 aircraft is devoid of mottling and has a red spinner. It also has the name 'Samoa' and a white outlined red band on the rear fuselage.

Third is Red 16 of Fritz Losigkeit from 2./JG 26 in March 1940. Again, a clean aircraft free of mottling.

The last option is Yellow 12. This 9./JG 52 aircraft is also in Balkans markings, but without the yellow wing tips and with yellow elevators. Mottling on this one is somewhat light and in the upper surface colors.

As with all EagleCals sheets, the research is superlative with references provided. The full color placement guide also includes a detailed data markings guide.
