Originally touted as 'a missile with a man in it', the F-104 was the smallest practical airframe that could be wrapped around a J-79 turbojet. Though blindingly fast, it was also an airplane that required a considerable amount of skill to fly as its small wings meant a fast landing speed, while the T-tail brought on some rather vicious stall characteristics. Despite its rather high accident rate, it developed into a potent interceptor and ground attack aircraft.
This sheet is one of many done in collaboration with The Aviation Workshop and though designed for the Hasegawa kit, should work equally well with the Monogram or even the ESCI version. There are five subjects on this sheet.
First is an F-104C from the 198 TFS, Puerto Rico ANG in 1967. It is in the standard SEA camouflage scheme.
Next is a Taiwanese F-104G in the last scheme these planes wore during 1990 of the two Compass Ghost Greys. The tail badge is provided on a separate, smaller sheet.
From Germany comes this MFG 2 aircraft in their early markings and code letters.
An overall unpainted metal F-104G from the 335 Mira of the Greek Air Force is next.
This is followed by an overall ADC Grey Danish F-104G from Esk 723. The wing upper surfaces on this aircraft are in white and it carries the lower Sidewinder pylons.
The sheet provides full insignia and rescue markings for all.
