Once again, Expert's Choice comes the rescue with a sheet for semi-obscure aircraft types. This one is for the Academy KB-29 kit. Though I don't see a SB-29 listed in the latest catalogues, the KB-29 is so shouldn't be that difficult to locate. The only problem will be finding a place to put the completed model! All of the subjects are in overall bare metal except as noted. There are enough common markings to do one aircraft.
First up is a KB-29 from the 420ARS in the UK around 1957. It has a white area on the upper fuselage over the crew sections. The front of the engine cowlings and a nose band are yellow.
From the 97BW in 1952 comes this next KB-29. The only color is red on the fin tip, nose gear doors and forward refueling pod.
From the 509th BW in 1951 comes this KB-29. It is the least colorful of the three with red only on a tiny section of the fin tip. All the KB-29s will have to have an upper radome added to the model.
The lone SB-29 is from the 3 RS in Japan during the Korean war. This has large yellow areas and you'll notice that it is armed. Where to get the lifeboat is beyond me.
