NOTES:

`

Without a doubt, the F-4 Phantom II has to be the 'most decalled' post WWII aircraft. That is fine with me as not only can one not have enough F-4s, but often times, newer sheets are either better printed or have corrections made to them after research has found updated information.

This particular sheet has three F-4J MiG killers on it, all in the Light Gull Grey and White scheme, which some find boring, but I delight in as it allows for colorful markings. As a preface, I find the decals to be superbly done and well printed by Microscale, but I also find the reds to be a bit light and more toward orange than I'd like, but that is a personal preference and these may actually be the correct shades or done that way to compensate for their darkening when placed on the model.

First up is the VF-92 aircraft of Lt Curt Dose and LCDR Jim McDevitt from their 10 May 1972 mission,

This is followed by LCDR Sam Flynn and LT(JG) Bill Johns VF-31 aircraft as used to down a MiG on 21 June 1972.

Finally, From VF-103 comes LCDR Gene Tucker and LT Bruce Edens 10 August 1972 victor.

As often happens, the kill markings were applied to their new 'personal' aircraft when the crews returned state-side. This means that the actual MiG Killer went unadorned as often crews flew what was available and not their assigned aircraft. Thanks to Fox One's research, we have the ability to model either aircraft. In addition, the actual load-out for the mission is provided as well. Probably one of the most well-researched instruction sheets you can find.
