Ten options |
Here is another superb set from Furball Aero-Design. This set is for early T-38 aircraft in the overall white scheme. For many of us, this is how we think of the T-38, not in the camo of the AT-38B or the current black and grey scheme of the T-38C. It would not be wrong to consider this scheme to have been used on more T-38s than any other (thank you, Mr Obvious).
The sheet markings are sized for the Wolfpack T-38, a kit I have not yet built. Since the Trumpeter version is oversize (like 1/46 or 1/47), you could still use the decals, but some bits might be a tad small. The Sword kit, however, does seem to be the proper size, though honestly, unless I already had this kit in my stash, I'd go for the Wolfpack one as it has to be easier to build. All the options are in the overall white scheme with various sized anti-glare panels in black on the nose. The decals are printed by Cartograf so you know they are among the best. A full page stencil placement guide is also provided. There are enough common markings to do two planes and I like that the under wing USAF is already in sections .
First up, with the yellow fin stripe is an aircraft from the 25 FTS 71 FTW at Vance AFB in 1974.
Next, with the big HO on the fin is a 465 TFTS/49 TFW aircraft from Holloman in 1975.
A rather unremarkable 9 SRW T-38 from Beale AFB in 1979 is next.
With the blue tail band with stars in it is a 560 FTS/12 FTW plane from Randolph AFB in 1980.
The LB coded plane is from Reese AFB in 1995 and with the 54 FTS/64 FTW.
Next is one with international orange bits. It is one of the early builds and was with the AFLC based at McClellan AFB in 1975.
With the red fin stripe that has X's in it is the lone Bicentennial plane. This Eglin based plane has a small bicentennal badge on the fin.
Another Holloman plane is next. This is an AT-38B with an HW code and was with the 434 TFTS/479 TFTW in 1978.
From the International training wing, the 80 FTW, here is a boss bird from Sheppard in 1983.
A 12 FTW boss bird is next from 1983. This Randoph based plane has the wings blue tail stripe.
Finally, in the 9SRW fuselage and tail markings is the final option from 1988 at Beale AFB.
Regardless of which options you choose, you'll be pleased with the results.
