Furball Aero-Design FPE-001: F-14 Late Model Tail Reinforcement Plates

This is Furball Aero-Design's first photo etch set and it is for the Tamiya 1/48 F-14A Tomcat. Like all modern jets, after a lot of flying, it was discovered that there were weak spots that needed reinforced. On the Tomcat one of these was at the very top of the fin. The usual fix for these sorts of things is to add external reinforcement plates. This set is for those plates.

These are items that are stacked with three plates per side of the fin stacked in a specific manner. The set comes with instructions that show you exactly where to put these and in what order they are to be applied. This set is for one aircraft.

As a note, the modeler really needs to do their research in this regard. Naturally rather new planes would not have this, but those that have been in service a while would have them added as part of a general overhaul at NARF (Naval Air Rework Facility).
