This is Fundekal's second sheet on the F-102 in 1/48 scale and like the previous sheet, has markings for six different aircraft, most of which are in overall ADC grey (FS 16473). Options are provided for both Case X and Case XX wings with the instructions being specific as to which ones the aircraft used.
The first option is from the 318 FIS based at McChord AFB in 1958-1960. This plane has a large fin marking and a mostly green speedbrake with yellow wing fences.
Next is a 57 FIS F-102. This unit operated the 102 longer than any other, retiring its last plane in 1973/74 once it got its full complement of F-4C Phantom IIs. These aircraft wore Arctic markings on the wing and fin with the 57th FIS' standard white and black checkerboard rudder.
Third option is with the 4780th ADW based at Perrin AFB in Texas during 1965. It sports a white tail band with a red and blue arrowhead.
This sheet's SEA camouflaged plane is a PK coded 509 FIS plane with green commander's stripes on the fuselage.
Finally, two different schemes for 32 FIS planes based at Camp New Amsterdam in the Netherlands. One has a large red, white and blue sunburst fin marking from 1963 while the other has this marking on the speed brake and big green band on the fin from 1969.
The decal sheet itself is superbly printed and show no errors in registration. It does not provide common markings so you will need to get those from the kit. The only kit currently available in this scale is the one from Monogram. Though an older kit, it still can be built into a very nice model. It has also been released with both wing types.
What makes these decals somewhat different is that they do not come to you with instructions and require you to download them from their web site. They come in .pdf format and provide markings placement guides for a ton of different aircraft. The instructions are in full color and give upper and lower camo schemes where required. They also provide a full data placement guide for the different schemes. Notes are provided for each option.
In all, a great sheet that really expands the number of options for this aircraft.
Thanks to Fundekals for the review sheet. You can find this set at Fundekals web site.
