Back in the 1960's the rage amongst aircraft designers was the 'swing wing'. This feature allowed for low landing speeds with the wings extended, and high speed with them swept back. The US took to the concept with great vigor producing such planes as the F-111, B-1 and F-14 with this feature. The Soviets were also using it as the Mig-23 and Mig-27 adopted swing wing technology for their planes. This was also found on the Su-17 family as well as the Su-24,  TU-22/26 and TU-160.

The Mig-23 and 27 are slowly coming to the end of their useful lives, having been replaced by the Mig-29 and Su-25 respectively. However, there are still a number of places that are flying these planes as they are still capable aircraft.

One is the Czech Republic. The air force is well known for producing some rather bold special paint schemes on their planes. Though nothing like what the Belgians do on a regular basis, these schemes are quite colorful and impressive. This particular scheme having been done for one of the various commemorative anniversaries.

Like all Mike Grant decals, it is colorful and well printed. It is also a very short run decal and is best ordered direct as few places carry it. It will also be a bit of a challenge to get this one painted properly. However, once done, it should look superb.

The suggested kit for this scheme is the Hobbycraft Mig-23,however, there is also a Dragon/DML kit around and it should fit that one just as easily. If you think you've seen this review before, you have. Only the scale has been changed to protect the innocent. Or something like that!

Though you cannot see it due to the low contrast between the decal and the backing, there are white numbers on the sheet.
