Now we have a superb sheet in 1/48 for the AH-64D. In Israeli service it is the AH-64D-I Saraf and this has several modifications to it that differentiate it from the US version. IsraParts offers an update set for this variant which includes modified pylons and long range tanks that are typical of the IAF version. Though no kit is specifically mentioned, I'm sure that most modelers will go with the very nice Hasegawa kit or the recently updated Revell offering as the older Monogram version only does an early A model.

As IAF aircraft tend to be less 'individualized' than those of the US Army, the sheet has enough serial numbers to allow just about any Saraf from 736 'Hornet' Squadron to be modeled. These are in the current four color camouflage of  FS 36492/33448/30219/34031. Where to find some of these colors ready mixed may be a bit of a challenge.

There are four US Army AH-64Ds from Iraq during 2003/2004.

The first two with shark mouths are from the 1-3 ATKHB/ 3 ID in March 2003

Next is one from 1-227 ATKHB/ 1st Cav during March of 2003

The fourth US version is from 1-227 ATKHB/1st Cav during November of 2004.

As a bonus, there are markings for a two tone grey AH-64A of the 1-151 ATKHB, South Carolina NG. during December of 2004.

The IsraDecal instruction sheet is among the best in the industry with a full stencil placement guide that takes up a lot of the sheet and instructions.

As with all of IsraDecal's products, this one is highly recommended.
