Moving over to P-47s, here are two very nice schemes with really super nose art. For kits, the recommended version for the P-47N is either the Italeri or the High Planes kit. Frankly, the High Planes version is probably your best bet as the Italeri kit has not gotten good press. The P-47D razorback is done by Tamiya and Hasegawa amongst others in this scale.
First up is the P-47N from the 333FS/318 FG. Named 2Big and 2Heavy/Short Snorter, this overall bare metal P-47N has a yellow nose and the Red/Black stripes carried by the 318th in the last months of the war. Better yet, it has TWO really cool nose art depictions!
The other is Jerry Johnson's 'In the Mood', a razorback P-47D-1 when he was with the 61 FS/56 FG. His aircraft has the standard white ID makings carried by P-47s and has the red surround insignia.
As with all the other PYN-up sheets, this one had duplicates of the outstanding nose art decals in case you need them. I've included an enlargement of the nose art so you can see the superb detail. Remember that this is 1/72! All of the nose art decals have a white background that must be put down first in order to allow all the colors to come through. Again, there are only 300 of these sheets to be done so if you want one, you need to get it as soon as you can before they are gone.
