After a long hiatus from this scale, Superscale returns with a great sheet for the Hobbycraft/Trumpeter F4F. Though the sheet indicates that there is a -3 on it, all are -4 variants. The markings are taken from the 1/48 and 1/72 sheets done over the last year or so and include three planes, all in the blue-grey upper and light grey undersides, without the red and white rudder stripes.
First off is Machinist Runyon's plane from VF-6 aboard the Enterprise in 1942. This squadron carried the unit tally on the fin.
Next is Lt.Cdr Raby's VF-9 Wildcat from the USS Ranger during Operation Torch in late 1942.
The final scheme is Capt. Carl's Wildcat from VMF-223 on Guadalcanal during the heaviest days of the fighting.
The sheet has insignia for two aircraft as long as you pick Lt.Cdr Raby's plane for one. There is also a stencil suite provided, but no marking guide. Use the kit instructions for that.
A great sheet for your next 1/32 Wildcat.
