A new release from Superscale is this sheet on F6F-3 Hellcats. Interestingly, only the Hobby Boss and Eduard kits are recommended. I'm sure these markings will fit the Hasegawa kit equally as well. Probably the Otaki version too. All three aircraft are in the tricolor paint scheme.
First up is an aircraft from VF-2 aboard the USS Hornet. Hellcats tended to be rather plain planes and the best one can hope for in terms of markings are a unit badge, which this one has.
Next from VF-16 aboard the USS Lexington is the often kitted white 13. This has the short lived red surround insignia.
From the USS San Jacinto is this VF-51 aircraft that actually has a name, 'Little Joe', on the lower cowling.
Finally, an ace's aircraft. This is Alexander Vraciu's plane from VF-6 aboard the USS Intrepid during 1944 after he was involved in the Marianas Turkey Shoot.
Cartograf is now Superscale's default printer and the sheet is superbly done. There are insignia for two if one also picks the red surround insignia and data markings for one aircraft though one can glean the additional ones from the kit if one wishes to do both options.
