There are many times when one is doing a model and for whatever reason, wants to have specific insignia for it. This particular sheet is for 'type one' insignia. Now this is the first time I have heard this term used for this design, but it matters not as these are nice to have. They are what was used from 1919 until mid-1942 when the red section was removed from the roundel.
A variety of sizes is supplied with the sheet and the instructions show placement for the P-26, P-35, P-36, P-38, P-39, P-40 and B-25. There is a caution that these were just the usual sizes and it was not at all unusual for 'non-standard' sizes to be used. Of course, you can use these on a variety of other types as well.
The sheet is superbly printed by Cartograf and while the red looks a tad brighter than I am used to seeing on these insignia, perhaps it is the proper shade and perhaps it will darken once placed on the model.
These sorts of sheets do sell out rather quickly so you might want to pick yours up pretty soon. I am hoping not only for a full series of these sheets, but look forward to seeing them in 1/72 as well.
