I was stationed at Atsugi, Japan during the Bicentennial year of 1976 and while I was with VQ-1, we shared hangar space with CAG-5 so I saw these planes nearly every day that I went to work. Though the images above show F-4Js, these were F-4Ns. Both were in the light gull grey and white scheme.

First is the VF-151 plane with red, white and blue tail markings. The fin must be painted white prior to decal application. There are also r,w,&b stripes surrounding the canopy and red/white 'sunburst' markings on the upper wing outer sections.

The VF-161 plane was a bit more subdued with a red blue marking on a white fin. The blue band on the fuselage and nose  has to be painted by the modeler. It calls for a medium blue, but it seemed rather dark to me. Just match the blue on the decal and you'll be fine.

Though there are data markings for both planes, you'll have to get insignia from another source. Since this is a Microscale and not a later Superscale sheet, the reverse side info is intact and that gives the size and locations of the national insignia.
