What! Not another F-4 Decal sheet! Yep. The Phantom is undoubtedly the subject for more decal sheets than any other type I can think of. An why not. The Rhino was the most used large tactical aircraft that the Western nations had and held supremacy in that area for well over 10 years.
This particular sheet has two wing commander's aircraft so have a bit more color than the standard aircraft of the time. Both of them are in standard SEA colors. Actually, there are three options as you have two different tail markings for the 3TFW bird.
Microscale has enough insignia for both aircraft, but only enough stencils for one. Actually stencils cover half of the sheet. Like all older Microscale sheets there is a stencil placement chart, but when Superscale took over, it printed the two sides of the old Microscale instruction sheet on one side. As a result, the data placement chart is so small as to be virtually useless as I sure can't read the darn thing!
Anyway, the 3TFW F-4E has two tail options; one with the shadowed grey tail codes and striped tail band or black codes with the checkered tail band. Both ar of the same aircraft.
The 4 TFW F-4D has a multi-colored tail band with colors from all three squadrons in the wing.
Both will look very good on your 1/48 Phantom!
