Continuing with the 109 bliss, here is yet another sheet of 109 aces, this time it is those flying the F-4 variant and all from the Russian front.
First Obstlt Philipp, Kommodore of I./JG 54 circa 1942. His plane is in an overall white winter scheme with a yellow fuselage band and lower wing tips.
Next, is Black 1 of Oblt. Osterman of 8./JG 54. His 109F-4 is in standard RLM 74/75/76 with only a yellow fuselage band for theater markings.
Finally, is Maj Brandle, Kommodore of II./JG 3, again in 1942 as the other two. Again, RLM 74/75/76 are the colors of the plane with a yellow fuselage band and wing tip undersides. However, to add some more color a red spinner, which is most unusual.
Kits available for the F in 1/48 are basically one from Airfix and the newer Hasegawa version. Strangely, the F has not been as prolifically produced as have the G and E models. Not sure just why, but there it is.
