Here are a couple of very interesting late war P-51D Mustangs. The first one is 'The Prodigal Son', flown by Bartholomew Tenore. It has the very colorful blue nose band with stars and white spinner that was used as a unit marking by the 356th FS. Please note that this aircraft should NOT have the dorsal fin as it was an early P-51D.

The other is 'Killer' from the 355th FS. This one has a blue spinner and a blue/white checker nose band. This aircraft also has the D-Day stripes under the wings and fuselage. The fuselage bands are given, but the wing stripes will have to be painted on. A very thoughtful touch is that there is a white gap in the D-Day stripe for the insignia. This will prevent any problems with the black stripe showing through the white of the Insignia.

The recommended kit for these is the Tamiya Mustang and the various stripes and bands have been designed for that kit. You could probably use all but the D-Day stripes on any other 1/48 Mustang kit, though they may not fit perfectly.

Again, the sheet has been cropped to eliminate the common data and stencil markings.
