Here is the first of two new Skyray sheets from Superscale. Both planes are in the light gull grey over white scheme. For kits, the Tamiya version is the one that is recommended. As you can see, there are common markings for one aircraft. The intake warning decal has been broken into three parts so that it can more easily be applied. It is supposed to wrap around the intake and by doing it in sections, that can be achieved without having to paint this area.
First is one of the many different markings carried by VMF-115 while operating the Skyray. It includes a very nice rudder and upper fin markings. The drop tanks also have stripes to add to the interest of the model.
From VF-51 circa 1959, comes this F4D-1. Its markings are mostly concentrated on the upper inboard wing area. This motif was somewhat carried over to the F11F Tigers that were flown later on by this unit. The wing markings were also carried on the drop tanks.
