Bent wing birds have always been a favorite amongst modelers. There is something that just looks cool about the design of the Corsair. Certainly there has been no other aircraft built that looks quite the same. I hesitate to use the word unique, but if looking at silhouettes of aircraft, the Corsair is unmistakable and probably the only one that non-enthusiasts will recognize.

There have also been a plethora of kits of this plane in all popular modeling scales. Fortunately, there are some really good kits amongst the pile, especially in 1/72. The new Tamiya kit comes to mind, though most modelers will opt for the much less expensive and still very good Hasegawa version. Equally buildable kits in this scale are from Revell and if you are really into nostalgia, the Frog version builds up well as does the Hawk/Testors kit, though the latter are rather weak in the cockpit.

This particular sheet is equally split between land based USMC and USN squadrons. Both of the USN Corsairs are from VF-17 and sport kill markings on them. The USMC birds were primarily used for close support of troops so didn't have the opportunities to knock down enemy planes as did the USN  Corsairs.

Superscale has provided full markings for all four examples and enough data markings for two. There is a very good data placement diagram included in the instruction sheet.

From the top right  the first aircraft is 'Lonesome Polecat' from VF-17 and sports four kill markings.

Right below that is another VF-17 Corsair, 'LA City Limits' with two kills.

'Mary' is a VMF-122 FG-1A based on Peleliu in 1944 and has a white insert to the fin.

'Bayou Baby' from VMF-217 on Guam in 1944 (the instructions say 1943, but IIRC, the invasion of Guam wasn't until 1944) includes some nose art.

Any of these markings will make your Corsair a little bit different from what is normally seen.
