NOTES: | resin, for Sweet kit. |
Those who have bought the Sweet Macchi 200 know how fine a kit it is. They also know that Sweet didn't put in any wheel wells. This was their first 1/144 aircraft kit and they were testing the waters. For those who have the kit, you now have an option to not only add in the wheel wells, but also have separate flaps and ailerons posed at full lock.
The Bagheera wing replacement is full resin and is a complete replacement of the kit wing. The set includes two full wings and two sets of flaps. The resin on the flap area and forward wheel wells is thin indeed. In fact, one of my wings has a chipped upper flap area and the forward wheel well part is broken away. The latter can be repaired once it is cut away from the sprue stub, something I was able to do in a few seconds with a touch of super glue, but finding something so thin to match the original molding for the upper wing flap section will take some thought. I should state that this set is a pre-production version and may not be identical to what will be sold. It should, however, point out that some sort of additional care needs to be taken with these wings prior to shipment as they can obviously be damaged while loose in the polybag unprotected. I recommend taping these pieces to a section of cardboard.
As you can see from the photo, the detailing on the resin parts is superb and part of their attraction is the fineness of the molding on the flaps. While my pre-production set did not have instructions, those will be provided once series production gets underway.
If you want to upgrade what is really a super kit and make it even better, this is a set for you.
