This is a very useful accessory from Griffon Model. There are a number of times when you need rod for specific tasks, usually in scratch building or in building dioramas. While plastic rod is often the material of choice, there are times when you need something that is a bit less pliable.

Phosphor bronze rod meets that requirement. This material is not only quite stiff, but can be cut with standard modeling side cutters. It is stronger than brass, but not as impossible to work with as piano wire or other steel wires. I have used the smaller material on a variety of projects and have found it to hold up quite well.

This sample is probably at the upper end of what I would use. The packet contains four sections of 1.5mm rod and is part of Griffon Models 'consumable products' line. Something definitely worth looking into when you need something like this.
