This updated set from Master Details is for the Hasegawa 1/32 Bf-109G and while appropriate for the G-4-6 variants, most of these parts can also be used on the G-10 if modeling the version with the short tail wheel and the narrower wheels. So what do you get?

Well, you get a one-piece supercharger intake, new spinner with prop blades, new tail wheel, main gear wells, deep molded shell ejector chutes, two styles of drop tank, new exhaust, new gear doors and main wheels, two part drop tank rack with additional detailing, new gun barrels and a few other smaller bits and pieces. Please note that the above image is of the older set and there are some slight differences as noted in the last paragraph.

What makes this set superior to the kit bits is that not only are many of the parts a single molding, but the level of detail is well above that supplied in the kit. For instance the detailing of brake lines inside the gear doors, the depth of the shell ejector chutes and the additional detailing inside the drop tank rack. I should also mention that the quality of the resin castings is top notch without any molding glitches and only some resin flash and small stubs to remove. The instruction sheet is superb and show what preparation is required and just where some of the more esoteric bits fit. Most of these parts are direct replacements for the kit supplied bits.

New to the second edition are that some of the more delicate parts that are part of the drop tank/mount assembly are now made from cast pewter. This allows these parts to be able to handle the sometimes rough treatment that this set gets from transportation. Also cast in pewter are the starting crank, machine gun barrels and the gear retraction struts.  As with all cast bits, there is a bit of a seam to be removed. Another change is that the drop tanks are now a forward and rear half. This is to prevent any problems with mold slippage on larger parts. Be sure that the package states '2nd Edition' to be sure you are getting the metal parts.

It is also offered at a most reasonable price considering all that you get in the set. I think you'll be just as impressed with it as am I.
