THE KIT |
A real insurgence in wargaming has happened in the last decade or so with many gamers moving into areas that are outside the normal Napoleonic or WWII scenarios. Amongst those kit makers who have been providing figures and accessories for these different genres, Zvezda has produced a set of Turkish Cavalry.
There is no time-frame provided on the box, but I'd have to think 16th or 17th century if not earlier as I see only blade or pummeling weapons in the hands of the various figures. Those who have seen Zvezda's figures know that they are quite well molded and need little more than brief assembly and painting to be ready to use. This particular set has 18 mounted figures. There is a single figure of the Standard Bearer, Ahga, and Musician. Six Hulkhi in two poses and Nine Sipahi, also in two different poses. I'll let you do the google thing to look up what these names mean and to give yourself a bit of an education, but can tell you that one batch are lance armed while the others have hand weapons.
As with most figure sets, the box provides your painting information with assembly being pretty well intuitive. These figures fit well into Zvezda's "Age of Battles" table top games. These are realistic re-enactments of pivotal battles throughout history.
CONCLUSIONS |
Whether you are into war gaming or just want to do something different for yourself or to engage a child, these sets are quite popular and nice to have.
