HISTORY |
As much as I'd like to give you a nice historical background on this car, the truth is that I was unable to find anything about it. Needless to say, it is a typical European piece of rolling stock (four wheets) and in this case, it appears that the short sides of it are armored. Here is what little Dragon has to say about it.
During WWII, Germany was extremely reliant on railway networks to move equipment, weapons and supplies across vast distances. Maintaining and operating these vital railways was the responsibility of the Deutsche Reichsbahn Gesellschaft (DR), and in 1942 it managed an astonishing total of 203,000 wagons.
THE KIT |
The kit is part of Cyberhobby's Value Pack series and as such includes two sets of figures; 6064 and 6201. These are a machine gun crew and an artillery crew. This comes to a total of 10 figures as the artillery crew has six of them. This allows you to pose them in the car either firing mortars or the machine guns. There are a number of extra arms in the artillery crew set to add different poses.
The rail car kit is very nicely done. This is not one of your zillions of parts kits as the box top mentions it has 250 of them. Some of these are the figures and some of these are the individual rail road ties. These are inserted in the base sections and then the rail pieces slid into place. The car has a nicely detailed frame and wheel assembly with a well done bed design. Each of the various metal shutters has all the handles mounted on the inside as on the real car. It appears that these can be mounted open or shut depending on how one positions the piece. There is a small decal sheet with general markings for the car. It is painted in two shades of dark grey with wood for the ties and the interior bed.
CONCLUSIONS |
Not your usual armor kit, but something that will draw some interest and a great way to display the figure sets. Best of all, it is a real bargain.
