HISTORY

The Junkers Ju 52 (nicknamed Tante Ju ("Auntie Ju") and Iron Annie) was a German transport aircraft manufactured from 1932 to 1945. It saw both civilian and military service during the 1930s and 1940s. In a civilian role, it flew with over 12 air carriers including Swissair and Deutsche Luft Hansa as an airliner and freight hauler. In a military role, it flew with the Luftwaffe as a troop and cargo transport and briefly (during the Spanish Civil War) as a medium bomber. The Ju 52 continued in postwar service with military and civilian air fleets well into the 1980s.The last military use of the Ju-52 was with the Swiss Air Force, these planes having been passed on to grateful war bird owners.

THE KIT

This is another of Zvezda's war gaming kits and this time it is a 1/200 kit, which is a new one that is apparently for large aircraft as even a 1/144 version would dwarf the playing board. This is a somewhat complex kit with, including the stand, 16 pieces. It has one-piece wings and fuselage, along with a clear bit for the cockpit. It is still a snap kit that can be assembled rather quickly. The kit includes a movement card and a set of somewhat generic decals which can be used to decorate the kit.

Instructions are provided and there is no actual painting guide, but you should be able to glean some information from the box art and by searching the web. While the parts are rather small, it should make an acceptable kit for the youngsters in the house.

CONCLUSIONS

This kit is part of a number specially done for Zvezda's 'Art of Tactic' game system. It should make into a very nice and quickly built model in its own right and is really perfect for new modelers thanks to its snap construction.
